Are you saying that your new cable is rolling off the bass?

Out of curiosity, are you able to reproduce the same amount of "less bass and better treble aka less dark" by EQing the stock cable?

It will probably continue as long as people keep posting about it.

Why do you have a problem with it?

There's nothing misplaced about discussing upgrades to your favorite headphone, within your favorite headphone thread. Whether it be the best amps, mods, or indeed hp cable upgrades. Otherwise it would be a very dull thread.

So chillax Mr Grumpy! biggrin.gif

Thanks for that, is the bass not tighter? rather than there being less? this what I found when I changed cables. The mids up for me were less congested and sharper

No prompting.....

The next thing you know, Ultra's bass will be tighter and his mids sharper and less congested.

I use a Matrix Mini-i (from eBay) and a LD MKVII+ balanced amp and am very happy with the sound. The DAC chips used in the Mini-i are the same (AD1955) as those in the $1000 Cambridge 840C player. The Matrix's amp section actually drives the 650s decently if you want to buy a separate amp later.

Are you saying my opinion is influenceable?? ;-)

I'm not commenting on the subject anymore. Someone asked me to give my impressions on something and I did, there's nothing wrong with that.

Getting "attacked" for it afterwards is something that shouldn't happen, luckily some are still open to opinions. (not specifically talking about you USG)

Need help with purchasing decision.

Been listening to my itunes collection through Pure Music and iBasso PB2 (with AD797 opamp).  Great synergy.  I love the open and detailed sound from top to bottom that Pure Music present.

My question is this, should I save my money for a DAC or buy the Pure Music?  Would a separate DAC give my the same sound?  Been looking at the iBasso DB2 but open to all suggestions.  My budget for a DAC is under $400.

Never experienced a separate DAC for my set up before, therefore not sure what the DAC will bring to the table.  Please shed some light.

Thanks,

Y

Well, Ultra, there are some here who think that all a piece of wire can do is transmit electricity.

DacMagic maybe.  You still need an amp.
