The HD 650 is only mid-fi price-wise.

Quick note, I want a headphone that is comfortable for hours as I will use it everyday for multiple hours for gaming, music, movies, youtube etc etc. I want an all-arounder that can do it all while being comfortable. All music will be from CD's or Tidal HIFI.

When I am listening to hip-hop, edm and others I have fidelio x1's, m50x's and beats studios. There headphones I am looking to purchase is more for other genres and the other items I mentioned.

For the headphones you are considering are you also thinking about an amp to drive them?  The X1 and M50x are fairly easy to drive and I use them with a phone or Fiio DAP but the Senns will require a bit more to get the most out of them.

The 650 at the current $290 is a great deal, I think one of the best bang for buck deals.

You would consider this headphone in the Hifi category with the likes of the HD800, 700, LCD2, TH900, he-560 Etc etc?

Yes I will be hooking them up to my X7 for gaming and after my tax returns I will be purchasing a Schiit Valahlla 2, Modi 2 stack.

Depends on who you ask, per headphone....

I respect the HD800, but I'm always wanting to "muddy up" the mids and tame the treble

The HD700 is completely unenjoyable to me, it should have been the mid point between the HD650 and HD800, but it isn't that.

The LCD-2 is superior, but only barely, and only on a the right amps.

The TH900 is the bees knees, and a bass monster, but it lacks the mids and isn't very good on female vocals.

And the HE-560 seems very thin, especially after listening to a properly amped HE-6

So I totally get why people love their HD650 and keep coming back to it...

Not to steer you in any direction but I was reading in one thread that some who have tried the HD-650 with Lyr2 / Valhalla 2 / Asgard 2 / Vali said that the Valhalla 2 was the least liked.  I remember this because I was looking at it and after reading a lot more threads ended up with a Lyr2 and couldn't be happier.  Also, it works with a wider range of headphones like HE-560  and LCD-2.

I would adjust accordingly depending on the headphone I end up with, the Vallhalla 2 would probably be for a hd800 or 700 where as I might drop to a vali for something like the hd650 or even look into o2/odac (not sure if this id the best fit or not) I don't want to spend more on a dac/amp then I spend on a $280 headphone.

While I respect that the headphones are priced modestly, I think it's worthwhile to listen to the 650s driven by the Bottlehead Crack. It may be similarly priced, but this is a case of headphones that were $400+ just a few years ago. Just food for thought... Why not pay a touch more for an amp that some say brings out the very best...

I personally haven't heard anything more expensive but I've read of many people who have and who ultimately prefer the 650.

There still 400 plus outside of the US.

In Canada it's hard to find the HD650's for under the MSRP which is 499.00

Even used they are around 400.

Even with the exchange, getting them new at MSRP of 500 in Canadian dollars still translates to 400 USD.

Either way, they are worth the price IMO. Below $300 is an insane value, anyone would be crazy not to get these at that price.

This is one time I'm glad Hawaii is part of US, other times the shipping out to Hawaii is a killer.  Also, many sites/vendors say "not available in Hawaii and Alaska" or "Does not ship to Hawaii or Alaska".

...

What gets me is paying taxes sometimes on second hand purchases... I've bought a lot of tubes from eBay and very rarely ever get dinged with taxes... bought expensive tubes and all of a sudden customs hits me with GST + a processing fee. The second hand LCD3F's also got me dinged. I have no idea why we pay GST on a purchase from another headfi'er... Anyway, my advice for Canadians looking to buy HD-650's is to buy from an American site like Buysonic.
