They sound bright and thin.

Is it possible that these are fake pads? Right now I regret not paying the extra and ordering from Senn.

I have faith in B&H photo, and if they say they are the real deal I would believe them...

Remember, not everyone here is American so I don't care where they produced. When I need recommendations I would always like to find the right product with least price but to help people finding their jobs. To be honest, I don't like my Schiit products at least pairing to my K550, HE 400, DT990. My HD650 is coming soon so if it disappoints me again I will not buy any product from them. If I were asked to give recommendation to others, I will only recommend things that I will buy in his/her situation based on my own experience. I think I am gonna leave Headfi because to be honest I don't feel like enjoying this environment sometimes. It seems like sometimes people want to help but I don't think I get the honest and useful answer.

Sorry you feel that way. I have been in this community for almost 4 years and it is an excellent community, very friendly and very helpful. My post still stands about why I like Schiit and yes I realize not everybody on head-fi is American (I'm Canadian), so my post in that respect was directed at those who do care about seeing a return of domestic production.

I didn't intend to open an old wound(I actually didn't remember that was shiit), I mentioned it was a bias, and an unfair one at it. but you know how it is with biases in audio.

bright and thin is because you don't have a good seal. your old worn out pads have taken the precise shape or your skull, the new pad didn't yet.

and also with old pads the drivers were closer to your ears, changing a few things too. it's a nasty process, but we all have to deal with it someday.

I may be wrong but wasn't that problem an issue 2 years before you came here?  :confused_face(1):

I changed my old compressed 650 pads for new pads I ordered from the Sennheiser web site, but didn't notice a change in the sound.  Go figure???

Put aside the fact that they make very good sounding kit and consider that they do that right in the US as opposed to offshore. There are several reasons they have earned the respect and following they enjoy here at Head-fi and I for one am perfectly happy to say I am a past, present, and likely future Schiit customer. I have owned a Valhalla, an Asgard 2 and still own a Gungnir. My best friend owns a Modi/Magni stack which I have been able to use. I like Schiit gear, mostly because it sounds really good and I feel they engineer their products to provide a solid cost/performance ratio. Am I a fanboy? No, I don't think I would say that, but I will stand up and defend quality North American products any day as we need more such producers not less.

I must admit, and please don't take this the wrong way my American friends, but I find it somewhat comical to listen to Americans bashing a company for advertising. Isn't America all about business?

At least you're not a schitt fanboy !

You caught me, I never listened to headphones or headphone amps before I signed up for the forum. No offense to Jude or anyone else here, but there are other ways to get into Head-Fi besides this site.

not sure there will be audible difference between both. I have some kind of unfair bias against schiit because of headfi talking too much about them(yeah basic anti spam reaction). when too much is done to tell us how great the products and how nice the company people are(even though some products didn't make sense to me at all with old tech, no negative feedback...), I end up not knowing if the other stuff actually are great or if people just followed the half hidden marketing done in here.

+1 the Head fi environment has changed and quiet quickly it seems over the last year or so, obviously the need to grow and the increase of revenue generated by commercial sponsorship it can sometimes feel there has been a loss in objectivity and a less than even hand with moderation/censorship on rare occasions. However there are also clearly many positives for headfiers with a more industry aligned forums wider coverage of a rapidly growing sector and close relationships with sponsors should ultimately result in better gear. I came to the conclusion that  swimming against the tide of change here is doomed to failure. Best to embrace the change and use it to your advantage most forums here are friendly and interesting places to spend some time. Sponsored reviews I find easy enough to spot or at least raise suspicion so just don't pay to much attention to them.

Following the Schiit story has been interesting even if there does seem to be a queue of certain fanatical individuals who want to have his babies even though its not physical possible! But all brands have their enthusiasts. Schiit/Odac etc as brands just appeal more to demographics which are more vocal and they have done a fantastic job of providing a good range of solid products to suit.  The market seams awash with new innovation and brands so if fishing for a amp or dac then cast your net wide as there is an abundance of choice.
