A slight variation, Schiit Valhalla 2 with the Modi for now, moving up to a Bitfrost when you can swing it. OTL power and the 650's is magic. Cheers!

how will the modi/magni or o2 compare to a aune t1? Looking for a bright and forward sound.

I wouldn't look into tubes for what you're aiming for.

Go with the little dot mk3, and try the telefunken 6ak5w tubes, as I'm in love with them :-) best of luck on the dac....the mk3 will set you back $200, but definitely worth it! smily_headphones1.gif

Has anyone ever come across (p)leather pads for the 650's? Does anyone make such a thing? I'm curious to know what that would do to the sound. More bass impact perhaps?

More sweat for sure. I wouldn't trade comfort for bass impact, which is already plenty in HD650, IMO.

That would be my thinking too... (P)leather always feels hotter and less comfortable

I've never heard or seen pleather ear pads for the hd650. Just the nice and soft ones you'll find on the sennheiser site, or other retailers that sell them smily_headphones1.gif

Pads from the HE60/90 are leather and fit. They are expensive and hard to find. I have seen them on EBay and was tempted a few times to try them,  but could not bring myself to spend well over $150 to get them when the stock pads sound as good as they do.

There was a pair for sale on here with them on a bit back.

late to this, but just wanna say i got these for christmas this past year and have been listening to them nearly every single day since and i will never reach for another pair of headphones again. i really love these. the perfect amount of everything and way laid back.

Thanks for the input guys. Aye, I'm happy with the comfort as is but I'd like to hear if there's a difference in sound all the same. I'm certainly not going to pay $150 for the privilege though.

You could always sell them again... and probably have it only cost shipping or the equivalent.

I am prolly going to put my HD650 up for sale soon.....if anybody following this thread may be interested shoot me a pm......like for them to go to someone who is really excited to get a pair.  If no one here is interested, then I will post in b/s/t

They have always been keep on a headphone stand....even had a dust cover over them on stand, when not in use.

Great cans....it has been an honor to use these cans and they have been great fun....I hate to get rid of them...but something has to go
