My immediate impression is that they sound great. I'm just using a cheap little SMSL that I just got, so not sure if I'm getting the full effect yet. Later tonight I'll try them at home on my Bifrost + Vali combo, and see how they sound there.

One thing I'm noticing right off the bat tho, if I have them actually sized to fit my head snugly, they REALLY hurt at the top of my head. I have to loosen it up a bit, which isn't really a problem, just surprised me how tight they can be when actually fit to size.

I have pretty big head (please no jokes😄) and my 650's are extremely comfortable. It took about a month of use (2 hours a day) for them to loosen up, enjoy!

They will loosen up with time. And yes, it takes about a month for the pads to compress and the headband to loosen up. Now are the most comfortable hp's that I've even worn.

Give them some time (few days).

I just adjusted it up a bit, so the headband isn't quite resting on my head, but it feels fine and is still tight enough not to move around very much.

In other news, I'm listening to Fleetwood Mac 'Dreams', a song that I have listened to HUNDREDS of times before, and I'm noticing little things that I never heard before!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Awesome.

The Trane sounds so good with the HD650, especially this track:

My HD650 just arrived. Initial impressions:

1. Someone say smooth? Spot on.

2. I swear I hear more subtle details than I do with the HE500

3. Very comfortable

4. Sounds great with the La Figaro 339.

Very happy thus far with the purchase. I feel as though once the mental burn in occurs, I'll love them even more. The HE500 are for sale now as I don't need 3 headphones. I will be picking up the HE560 soon after they're actually released though. I feel they'll compliment the 650 very well.

I agree 100 with your assessment. I use them with the DV337SE and enjoy the combo very much. The HE-500 was once littered with talk of the 337, but I think has much better synergy with the HD650.

Glad you like them.

So is the LF339 better than the Crack + Speedball? Which one is the better value? I'm interested in getting a Crack but I've heard that the Speedball reduces the soundstage?

Get Chord Hugo. Better than them.

Interesting. I also have the HE-500's coming tomorrow. I bought those first but then found an awesome deal on the 650's, which arrived first. I am REALLY liking the 650s so far, but will be interested to compare both after tomorrow.

So you're liking the 650's more, but do you find the 2 to be significantly different? Or are they fairly similar, with the 650's just performing better overall ?

I wouldn't say similar. HE500 sounds more open (grill mod) and crisp with deeper bass whereas the 650 is a bit smoother. Right now, for me, the HE500 is a better headphone, but I'm still mentally burning in the 650 and will be getting a new cable (that may or may not make a difference). I'm selling the HE500 because it is just too uncomfortable and the 650 is proving to be a worthy replacement.

Hey guys, looking for a dac + amp for around 300 AUD for my hd650s. Want something which sounds fun, bright which livens up vocals. Will be used for edm and trance. Any recommendations?

Schiit Modi/Magni is a good cheap combination. Bifrost/Asgard 2 would be even better combination, but way out of your budget, I guess (considering shipping and import duties).
