Well, unless you're being sarcastic... posting this here in this thread is simply trolling. You wanna get flamed go and be a firefighter... please don't bring it here. Thanks.

It's a snow day for me here, so I'm just relaxing at home burning in my NOS RCA 6F8G on the BH Crack....nope, definitely isn't sounding boring to me! :D

The mids and treble are okay but the bass...where did it go? Anyway I don't need this many phones so I think when I have my clearance sale the 600's will be going. I even like my HD580's more which I didn't think I'd ever say.

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion while testing both out.  I think if you're looking for a more reference sound without the 'cold' and 'analytical' nature of reference headphones, then the HD600 is the answer to that.  They're generally more revealing, IMO.

Same here.  It is coming down like there's no tomorrow out here.

How are you getting on with the RCA 6F8G?

So far I like what I'm hearing...Soundstage is really good, very deep. Nice punchy bass too. Flysweep has been kind enough to let me try out his Mazda CIFTE so I've been bouncing back and fourth  between the two. The bass seems to have more texture with the CIFTE and is really well extended from top to bottom. I'm hearing more sparkle in the high end on the HD 650 with the CIFTE tube as well. The Mazda has this great fluid cohesiveness to the music, really great tube and worth the asking price IMO. I'm hoping to hear some really nice changes with the RCA as I put more hours onto it. RCA is slightly less cohesive at the moment to my ears, but no less detailed. I'll post more impressions later.

I did upgrade my SRG2 to Ultra-Linear. All I can say it is a very close to my Pan Am for HD650's. You lose none what make the Sennheiser special.

Thanks! The color is called crimson fire and it's made by Old Masters. About 3 sessions of sanding then staining. Then it was more light sanding and several coats of high gloss polyurethane.

Dxanex...

I love the finish on the base also...just wonderful. I'm working on mine now. Walnut with dovetailed corners. I may try to use maple as a contrasting color for the front and back and use walnut for the sides.

That sounds nice! Interested to see how the dovetail joints look...can't wait to see some pics!

I think being able to customize the Crack base as you see fit is just another feature that makes it so special. It can be as basic or as beautiful as you like it to be.

I wanted to build a "from scratch" base so that I could put a bottom on it and make it slightly bigger to allow for upgrades and bigger caps.

I know it's not "HD650" talk, but by bigger do you mean taller?  Or are you using a metal plate larger then the one included with the Crack kit?

I'm thinking of becoming a Crack addict down the line...

The base will be 3/4 taller and wider increasing the area of the inside of the base by a fair amount. I'll be using the stock metal plate.
