Just a quick note on my pad change today. I have taken the pads off before a couple of time to put them through the gentle bath routine so no problem. When I washed them this time, the nap on the velour didn't come back as usual so I decided that it was time to go ahead and replace the pads...I ordered a pair from BHphoto a couple of weeks ago.
When trying to reseat the pads, I felt the grill give a little. So lesson learned don't put your fingers on the grill when pushing the pads back in the place. I had to further disassemble the hardware to get the grills apart and gently push the grill back to it's original formation...no crease thank goodness.
The new pads increase the clamp a fair bit...more than I was expected. It also sounds like the bass response is somewhat lessened. I suppose because the pads put the driver further away from the ear. I would expect a few days use to resolve this and return the bass to normal. FYI...
I would love to try HE60 leather pads on mine, but 150 for pads is just too much. I think they would fit perfect. I bet the bass increase would be substantial.
