I think you'd have to stick with silver or metallic. Otherwise, it would contrast too much with the rest of the headphones. I'm personally not one to customize the look of my audio gear, though.

They're all titanium. HD580 was a grey blue, HD600 was that marble colour, and HD650 is titanium.

The new HD650's may be all titanium, but the older ones are certainly not.

They are a slate grey colour.

The box and outer cover are silver/grey, though, whereas the HD600 box and cover are black.

I bought mine 2nd hand that came with a cable that looks like this....
Myhd650 sounded more energetic n brighter...like a hd600 on steroids..
Which is what I was looking for when I sold the hd600.

Not sure if that would equate to a 'weightier' can to your ears..tongue.gif

If u like the hd650 generic sound, it's best to tweak it from there till u find a sweetspot. IMHO.

I see and you're right, more energy and brightness or sparkle is not what I'm looking for in the 650. More like more bottom end and less forward mids. Hard to say really now that I no longer own them. TY for the contribution.

more bassweight n mids further back...sounds like u are describing my LCD2 v2....my favorite can :P

Haha, and hello Head-Fi!

Fraggler suggested the same and 2014 might just be the year for an used pair. The company name alone makes me weak in the knees ^^

I like the way LCDpads suck on my ears...vacuumous.
And tat nonpiercingsound...texturedbass...mmmm.

But hd650 at a quarter of the price...v gudbang for $$$!

Titanium as in the colour, not the actual metal. They would be more expensive than the SR 009 or Abyss if they were. :P

I meant that all the new HD650's may be titanium in colour, not that they were made of it.

It is Sennheiser that states the colour as titanium, I'm merely following their lead.

btw, that is lead as in lead the pack, not the soft grey poisonous heavy metal, as opposed to titanium which is silver, hard and very light.

650 vs 600 for rock/metal/alternative?

For me, Sennheiser HD 650 is my cure for all poisons out there, and now I think my wallet for audio is safe for a long time. I paired my 650's with Meier STAGEDAC and CONCERTO and satisfied with this setup, while using AIMP3 as the hi definition music player for my laptop, my audio heaven is reached. :)

Come on Sennheiser Black Friday sale....

A couple of things. First I have seen the 650s painted white they looked pretty good. Second my pair are going on 2 years no chipping or cracking but I keep mine in the box when not using them.
