sometimes the music has faulty parts in it, so cross check with another headphone. Probable cause could be a hair stuck on the phragma or the driver has loosened from its holding, but be careful when opening because of the very thin wire going to the driver.

Couponcode CYBT3PPS brings the price of the HD650 down $180 bucks at Sennheiser. http://en-us.sennheiser.com/high-quality-headphones-around-ear-audio-surround-hd-650 but coupon code paramore will get the price down even lower...at least it covers tax in my state! Depending on State, seems to be between 285 and 295 out the door.

I just snagged me a pair! ;)

IMO, you would have more improvement by a good amp than a cable, pure silver cables improve highs up to 2%.

For those looking:

NEW for $272 (+tax if your state applies) directly from Sennheiser

http://slickdeals.net/f/6465062-sennheiser-hd-650-headphones-272-free-shipping?

I ordered them, I currently have the DT880's.

I have the FIIO E17/09 combo, will the HD650's do well with that setup or should I look to upgrade?

That's the same deal I just posted.  The math on your link is not exactly correct.

No worries, it appears to be a dead deal now anyway.  Bummer for those who missed it.

I was one of the lucky ones who got a confirmed order for the HD650 for $288 directly from Sennheiser. I am REALLY excited to get these! It is my X-mas present to myself. I'll have to run it through my FiiO EO7K for a little while until I can save up for a proper DAC/Amp combo.

Kudos.

You'll definitely notice a big difference in a high-level amplifier.  My long-since-sold HD 600s were the first set of "high end" headphones I ever owned and I did not have an adequate amplifier setup when I first got them.  I stepped up to a NuForce HDP and noticed an incredible difference in sound quality.

There are a million amps to consider, but I would highly recommend the Schiit Asgard in terms of "bang for the buck."  I also think that a solid state amp works very well with the house Sennheiser sound.  Just my opinion of course.

SoulSyde, yes Schiit Audio is high on my list when it comes time to buy that updated Amp.

+1 On the Asguard I have version1 with the HD 650s and the sound is great.

I think the HD650 sounds good with the Magni, Lyr, and Mjolnir.  It'll probably be nice with the Vali, too.  When I first got my HD650, I listened to it out of my receiver and I still enjoyed it (although it's probably just a cheap opamp circuit). It gets better with better amps, but you don't have to spend a lot to make it sound good.

I got myself HD 650 from Sennheiser site today. I am wondering if my old fisher 500c will sound good with hd650. Anyone tried HD650 W/Fisher 500c?
