This is considered off topic I would recommend check and ask such questions in appropriate thread in the forum where you will find more experienced members. I have very precise hearing but can't accurately describe it in writing

I was listening to The Human League, yes from the 80s, and couldn't believe the sound. The HD650 does electronic music really well. I did not see that coming. :)

I've had mine for about 7 months and it has been paired with what is my current setup for about 5 months. I'm still amazed by them every time I put them on. I'm confident this is about as good as it gets in this price range. There might be a slightly better setup out there for the money, but it would likely take a bit of time, energy, and money to find it (and like I said, even then it would likely only be slightly better). The sick thing is not only is it one of the best sounding setups in this price range but it competes well with more expensive setups (think LCD2/Lyr/Bifrost). You really have to drop a ton of money in my opinion before you start blowing the HD650's out of the water.

Has anyone here used the HD650 with the Yulong D100 MKII? What are your impressions of that combination?  I read that the D100 puts out 130mw into 300 ohm.  I've seen some people say that its underpowered for the HD650, while others said it has more than enough power.  Was hoping to get some first hand impressions from my fellow HD650 threaders.

The vocals are  just so mellow, warm, clear..feeding off my darkvoice336se with a pair of TungSols..

.the can so comfy it disappeared the last 2 hours...had to come to this thread to remind myself the hd650 is on my head.

I am just shy of 2 years with the HD 650. And i can say with confidence it would take some really super sounding headphones to make me want to change.:gs1000smile:

When I search “headphones” in image search of Google, the first picture usually is the HD650.

Finally got the balanced cable for my 650's so I could get them up and running on my Mjolnir. Now let me say that I try very hard not to be hyperbolic when I comment here so I am going to try very hard to temper my enthusiasm. I am not very good at articulating what I am hearing so I am not got to try and review anything here. That being said, to say I am impressed with how well the 650's scale would be an understatement.

Don't know if it is the balanced aspect or the power from this beast, but honestly this is a different set of HP's!

Lol. That's a bit much. But yes, going balanced yields good results from the HD650. Particularly in the width of soundstage and overall coherence. A balanced dac should also improve your system. The s/e input into the MJ isn't as good IMO.

One step at a time. This is most likely an end game amp for me, I have too many other hobbies to invest much more into an amp. I will however be adding the Gungnir to the system within the next 3-6 months.

I agree. When I had it, before I sold it, I was using it SE with the ODAC; and I wasn't blown away.
