Nah, I think I'll just call the Police. I'm sure there was something illegal in that.

Nooo not illegal. Perfectly natural for a young man who is excited with his new hp's. biggrin.gif

I'd un-steal those precious seconds if I could, but sadly I can't. Here is a haiku instead:

ROFL on the video.

Anybody else think, that given the numerous amount of people who have the "I purchased a Sennheiser HD-650/600, but I sold it because of the veil, but then when I purchased it again, the veil was gone" experience, that the Sennheiser "veil" is just a mental thing?

This isn't to put down anybody who has such experiences, to imply anything about their mental state... But, it seems to me, that the "veil" people say they hear is mostly a relative thing.

Because for me, personally, I know I've had some "oh wow, this HD-650 DOES have a veil" moments... but this was right after I switched to the HD-650 from another headphone.

But when I pick up the HD-650 without having listened to any headphones right before, the "veil" seems gone.

It seems it's more an issue where people get used to one pair of headphones, and then when they switch over the HD-650, it seems as if, relatively, there is a veil. This seems like a more likely explanation for the "veil", than Sennheiser changing their headphones mid-production. Because, AFAIK, the criticisms of Sennheiser's veil has been around since the HD-580, and the HD-600. So whatever it is that causes people to believe there is such a veil is by actual design (ie. is done on purpose), and not an issue with manufacturing.

Me thinks this may be the cause of the veil..... :D

But yeah, I know what you mean. It could be because of the 650's sound sig that is on the dark side, once your brain has adjusted to it, any other hp you quickly change to is gonna sound bright or more energetic. I mentioned a similar thing regarding the LCD2's today.

454 posts since I went on vacation. You guys sure can talk. biggrin.gif

People are mentioning a Crack price of 784 dollars. Thats more than I paid for my Crack, Speedball, Tung Sol 5998, and HD650s combined. When I purchased my kit the option for paying Bottlehead to build was 150 for the Crack and 50 for the Speedball. Doc and Queen B have since upped the building price to a point where you can contract with a headfier to build one for much less. I guess they got sick of doing the building. The kit price is now $279 for the base Crack, $115 for the Speedball upgrade. They do group buys every now and then on their website. The Crack is an easy build but anyone who isn't into doing 7-10 hours of repetitive work should look elsewhere. For those that go the DIY route there is a special pride in knowing you have built the equipment making such beautiful music.
