I haven't spent much time with this combo yet. I just love the sound of my DT880s and these tubes. I gotta be in the mood for my 650s now. But I will definitely write some impressions when I get a chance.

I have one big complain about the HD-650, each time I listen to them it sounds so beautiful I literately have to stop what I was doing such as reading or working to listen to the music. It make my work pile up as high as mountain, very naughty headphones!

My biggest complaint with HD 650 is that when i sit and play games late at night with music on....it sounds so smooth that time flies by. I usually stay up an extra 2-3 hours more than I intend to lol. k701smile.gif

It certainly doesn't help that they're incredibly comfortable...

I recently bought a pair of HD650 and have been reading through much of this thread. While I agree that a lot of the varying opinion on these phones can be attributed to things such as "quality of source and amp", "snap judgments after short listening sessions" and "personal preference" I have to wonder how much can be attributed to the condition of peoples ears. I say this as someone who suffers both hearing loss and Tinnitus after years of competitive shooting that started back before hearing protection was a priority.

My Tinnitus manifests itself as a high frequency hiss much like pre Dolby tape hiss (escaping steam for you youngsters who have never heard tape). The intensity of the hiss varies from day to day. It is something I have learned to live with and tend to ignore most of the time when listening to music. Despite the fact that I am use to listening to music "through" this hiss I have noticed that my sense of veil and muddiness with the HD650 varies with the the pitch and intensity of my Tinnitus. On my quieter days I love my HD650s.

I am sure that in a community dedicated to listening to music with headphones there must be a fair amount of hearing damage to varying extents. I wonder if with a headphone like the HD650, that emphasizes smooth refined musicality over "wow factor", if minor differences in hearing response have a greater effect on perception than they would with other headphones under the same conditions?

Hello Gentlemen/Ladies!  I am a new member here and figured since i have been reading this thread for weeks I would post here first.  :)

The HD650 is my favorite headphone i have used so far (right now i am using PC-> ODAC-> Lyr -> HD650).  My only complaint so far is that i stay up way later than i should listening to music and am tired at work now!  :P

My favorite album to listen to on the HD650s so far is REM - Automatic for the people.  Not only are the songs good but the recording itself is fantastic.  I've read people on this board mention that the HD650s are somewhat forgiving to bad recordings, and that may be true, but there is no doubt some recordings shine more than others.  What other albums do you guys absolutely love on these cans?

Celine Dion, Adele's live performance at albert hall, almost anything that medium to slow paced music actually....

I haven't had my HD650s long but, I don't think I'm very impressed, very comfortable though although the clamping is a bit tight compared to what I'm used to, they're just very, very laid back, not that I wasn't expecting it, I can understand how some might describe them as veiled due to how laid back/dark they are.

I just got my HD 650s recently, and I was wondering what is the average burn-in time on these things? They're already pretty damn awesome, and I cant wait for these puppies to be burnt-in!

I don't find them laidback at all. They're pretty balanced throughout the range for me. Try scanning the audible range with SineGen, I doubt you'll say it's laid back then.
