Well, there is, but can you tell the difference, idk. What I mean, there have been plenty of people who complain about
not being able to distinguish differences in tubes for the Lyr.
I wouldn't say it's really a different ballgame, IMO, the HE-400 is a little different though. It has a dark tone, but has peaky treble,
this is of course, my subjective experience with the headphone. But I think the Lyr is a great fit for the HE-400. It boils down
to your preferences though. Plus, tube rolling can get pricey. And IMO, if you handcuff yourself with a budget...while still being
able to enjoy the experience, you definitely wouldn't be optimizing the potential the Lyr holds.
