Never heard the HD600, but I've read repeatedly & also from respectable sources that "the midbass hump of the HD580 and HD600 has been smoothed out in the HD650".

And, honestly, I don't hear any midbass hump in my own HD650.

Also, Heardoom claims that an "improved damping element" is used in the HD650, that (together with the improved driver) helps give the whole lower range better control and definition.

I think that the stage of the HD650 is better than the one of the HD600: it extends more in 3d space, while the HD600 image is more upfront, even if the sound is "clearer".

The DT880 v.2006 has one of the better soundstage I've heard in an headphone, IMHO. Huge, airy but dense at the same time, I appreciate it more than the HD650's soundstage, but I think it's really a matter of taste, as the HD650 does well in this regard.

The 650 is my go to headset.... BUT when I am recording my voice I have to use my Sony MDR-v900 because it is closed and the Senn is open and I get feedback with the Senn. But for listening to music the Senn is it!

The HD-650s are my favorite headphones out of the ones I've heard. I recently made myself a replacement headphone cable out of silver plated copper and the difference was very clear with clearer highs and tighter bass. Paired with the PPA and the Zhaolu the HD650s sound absolutely incredible. A huge soundstage, tons of detail and very musical. The Zhaolu sounds very nice but seems to be the weakest link at the moment so I'm planning to upgrade it with a Zapfilter in the near future.

All my headphones are in my signature, but my HD650s are my favorite. I got into headphones via the HD580s, so I may be biased toward the smooth, laid-back Sennheiser sound.

HD650's, showroom style!

Yes the 650 is amazing! The veil bothered me at first, but it dissapered! I guess it was my new interconnect cable. Yes the placebo has a strong effect, I guess.

A quick question: do any of the aftermarket cables increase bass relative to the other frequencies?

Increase Bass???

Not in my experience - primarily they increase the highs, clarity and detail (especially the silver cables, and silver coated cables)- which is what they need!!!

Although... they may tighten and clarify the bass a bit - which is what they need!!!

But... they respond much moreso to "de-veiling" and the right set up to control their drivers and complement their dark sound (add brightness and detail) - which a good sound processor will also do.

But... if you want more bass (although I don't know why) - look elsewhere.
