There are few headphones I feel actually need anything more than something like a magni or o2, and 90% of them are orthodynamic.

I don't think I have any special hearing, but I can definitely hear difference between Magni (haven't heard o2) and Lyr. Not saying that Magni is bad, it's great with HD650, but it's not Lyr like experience for me.

If I would talk bike language I would say Magni and Lyr is like Yamaha R6 a R1 .. R6 is definitely great has quite some hps and it's fun to ride, but it's no R1. Once you ride R1 for some time you don't wanna go back to R6 tongue_smile.gif

ps: I'am no zealot, if something doesn't make my music sound better I will just sell it. Won't keep it just for ego thing.

You could check the FS forums.  There are always some balanced HD580/600/650 cables up for sale.

Ha! Fellow Anteater?

Now listening to and enjoying Santana III on my HD650s > E9 > Yamaha 5950 > Yamaha DVD2900, just got done listening to the MoFi Santana I and Abraxas CDs. Can't get over how great these headphones are sounding. Maybe I've been listening to my Momentums so much that I've forgotten how awesome theses headphones are.

Holy crap, did a UCI community just pop up in Head-Fi?

Hey I'm at UCI, too. Where the hell are you guys? Pretty much all I see on campus is Beats and Bose. Never seen anyone else wearing HD650's for sure.

During my time at UCI I did wear Bose for a couple of years eek.gif, then switched to PX360s, never had the nuts to bring my HD650s to campus. Plus I didnt have a portable amp strong enough to drive em, plus Id bug everyone when listening to them!

I want to wear my HD650 while walking to university but that would look awkward, right? L3000.gif

Everyone else will hear what you're hearing as well, which is a bit awkward.
