Apparently the Magni is good for fooling people into thinking it's bright when it's really just crappy recordings most likely.

I am currently using the fiio e7/e9 combo through my laptop and pc. I was thinking about going for the Schiit products, Modi + Lyr or something. They seem to be really popular, but I wonder how many people suggesting them have actually used them.

the aune drives them plenty and the dac seems up to snuff too

The difference between the m/m combo and the fiio combo is pretty stark. The fiio is warm and laid back while the m/m does sound a little bright to my ears. The brightness is coming from the modi though. Just compared them this weekend. 

If you're looking to "brighten up" your 650 the m/m would be something to consider. I don't feel the need to brighten mine at all. 

Anyone getting an Asgard 2 to pair with the HD 650??? I'm SUPER curious to how it sounds =D

Booyah! Just ordered one to hear how it sounds w/ the HD650. Personally,  I never loved the first Asgard but Jason described the Asard 2 this way: "Asgard 2 ups the level of detail retrieval by several orders of magnitude, while maintaining the tonal accuracy, and adding a nice, airy extended top-end." Sounds like it could go quite well with the HD650! 

And besides, my office is freezing year round! 

Having owned the HD650 for about a couple of weeks, other than the stock cable, does anyone have any noteworthy experiences to share with aftermarket cables?

I know that the Moon Audio Silver Dragon cable does boost the audio signal by about 6db on my CIEMs -- does it or any other cable enhance your love of the HD650?

Honestly, that doesn't really sound as a credible statement. There is no reasonable chance for that being possible. I wouldn't ever believe a person saying such a thing to me. That is a very bad marketing for a product. There is no upping of "the level of detail retrieval by several orders of magnitude" between Magni and Mjolnir. Why would it be between two versions of the same model?

That statement is puffery. Puffery need not be true or even credible. (I'm not saying it isn't true, simply that reliance on this type of claim is unjustified.)

It was in a private email I hope he doesn't mind me quoting from. It seems obvious to me its hyberbole. Jason does seem very impressed with the Asgard 2 and he said it is scarily close to the Mjolnir.

What exactly isn't reasonable for that being possible? Did you even read what improvements were done to the Asgard?

Not saying it is on the level of Mjolnir, but no one's heard it yet, so it could go either way.

LOL relax guys... we all know they have a tendency to exaggerate their Schiit.  Just read the other product descriptions they have and you should already have a good idea of what they really mean.  Hold off the judgement till imackler gives us a thorough review (which i'm sure he'd love to do eh? eh?)
