Haha glad you like it beerchug.gif the combo is definitely very good bang for the buck and offers a clean neutral signal to amp the HD 650.  If your Senns are new then just wait till they burn in... it gets better biggrin.gif

I bought them used. Judging from the flaking paint on the headband angry_face.gif, they're likely burned in.

They are at least 4 years old then and well used.

It's probably prohibitively expensive, and probably not worth it, but does Sennheiser sell replacement headbands (just the plastic part)? Couldn't find it in their parts store. I may give them a call.

 

Edit: They are the silver screen version too.

Yea they do but they are over $100 (i think $120 was the price last time i checked).

120 bucks is not worth it. You can get a pair of nice used headphones for that much money. Sennheiser have ridiculously high prices on their spare parts.

And yeah, what's up with their prices? $60 for velour earpads seems a little ridiculous, considering the Beyers are under $30... rolleyes.gif

This. Gray touch up paint will fix it.

 

And invest in a nice headphone stand, and you won't have to worry about it happening again in the future and/or chipping off more paint.

My hd650 looks brand new and is about six months old...I think. I hang it on a stand when not in use. I think that a lot of the chipping and flaking must come from those who just lay them on a bare desk. They'll inevitably get pushed around and have some damage.

Hi guys! As I already stated, I love my HD 650's! More than my AH-D2000 (which are also very good though)! And I have a question about the two revisions. How do I know which revision I have? What are the sonic differences between the revisions? When did the newer revision started appearing?

I bought mine in October 2008 and I think I have the new version because the "plate" (if I can call it that) in front of the driver is made from some kind of metalish silvery "wires" "glued together" and is far from being even close to black and from what I read that means it's the new version.
Still I would like someone to shed more light on it.
