The headphone jack is converted to the line out. You will still be able to use uour cable.

No, the line out cables won't work. It's disabled in the sense that there is no audio signal going that way. You can still charge and USB it though.

Time to sell all those dock cables.

lextek, I am sorry but you are incorrect.

Nenso, as taken straight from the iMod page @ http://www.redwineaudio.com/iMod.html

***While the stock audio line-out signal from the dock connector is also disabled, all other dock connector functionality remains in its stock form.

Therefore, our Jumbo Cryo docks will be worthless after the iMod.

But I plan on keeping the 5G around for South Park episodes and for kicks...

EDIT: Ah, mofonyx beat me to the punch line, so to speak.

Lol alright thanks a lot. Do you guys think I should buy this imod over a real home source? I have no idea what should I buy (I don't want a computer as source yet) other than this because I already have an ipod for portable uses and disabling my lineout functions will completely butcher all my cables. I have splurged too much these 5 months, I have to conserve money for my next major purchase so I am being very careful in what I select.

Skylab: What do you use to rip your CDs? I assume that EAC has error correction switched on as default because I don't remember doing so at any part during the set up of EAC.

Sorry about that. I thought you meant from the actual dock (1/8) connector out.

saw on Ken's website (Audio Lineout) that he's now offering the Redwine Imod as part of a package deal along with some newly-designed cables. Looks interesting.

BUUT if I'm reading this page correctly, ilver cabling is the only offering with the package. What happened to the copper Jena Cryo option? Is it not available?

Will contact Ken directly, but just thought I'd ask in case anyone here knew.

If I do this, got tons of cables for sale--the ones terminated for the lineout in my 5g Ipod

Well, Nenso - only you can really decide in regards to what you're comfortable with spending. I will only say this - the iMod can be a very good home source. I built a silver cable that goes from 1/8" to split RCAs. I've plugged my iMod directly to my Darkvoice and it sounded wonderful. You could have a terrific compact home listening unit and then when you want, just unplug the iMod and take it with you.

Pre iTunes, I used EAC. But since I went to iTunes, I use iTunes to rip my CDs. As long as you use its error correction, it rips very well.

EAC's default is error correction on, yes.

Don't know about the package, but I just got the wrap-around iMod cable from Ken, he sent both the three-wire and six flat, both of which have both silver and Jena wires.

The three wire sounds good, haven't tried the six flat yet...RC

rcm: thanks for the clarification. Now that I look at the site, I can see the copper/silver combo.

Now I gotta sell some stuff to buy the Redwine

Wow, this sounds really impressive. Unfortunately I'm not at the level where I would need this kind of setup. It's really interesting to read though
