How to twist two wires together? Also 4-wire braid.

I'm going to be recabling my KSC75 with Canare mini Star Quad wire and I'm wondering what the best way is to twist the cable after it splits going towards the drivers. I don't have enough heat shrink tubing to cover all of it so is there another way to keep the cable twisted? Also I was wondering if anybody knows how to braid 4 wires together, for future reference. Thanks.

Best way to twist the wires after the Y split is to simply twist them very tightly with as many turns as possible, it looks good and doesn't separate.

As for braiding wire, Litz is a very popular way and should work well, but I've accidentally found a different way that looks similar and works for me (found by screwing up trying to do Litz).

Very simple way
1) Line up the 4 wires side by side.
2) Take the 2 outside wires and cross them in the middle, right wire over left (or left over right, but keep it constant).
3) Repeat until done

Twist it and hold it infront of a heater. Even if you are not heatshrinking, holding it while it cools seems to make the twists stay tighter. Don't burn yourself.

Put the loose end in the chuck of a drill and hold or clamp down the other end at the split. Turn the drill on slow and watch the two wires twist together. Simple and easy.

Hey,

Does that work? I usually do exactly what I do with fishing lines. You know, twist each one separately in the same direction while having two wires fixed to a pole. But this is kinda ... hard when the wire's thick.

P.S. I LOVE FISHING. >

It seems to help, but work is a loose term to define this

For 2 wires use 1 of these.
PR311, Wire Twister/Cutter, Right Hand, Manual Return, .060" cap, 10 1/2" long

Is this the correct way of braiding 3 and 4 wires together?

Are there other methods of braiding with 3 and 4 conductors? I've seen some that look completely different in the DIY gallery. Some look round instead of flat. Any clues on how to do this? Thanks!
