I added a pair to my rectifier tubes, as I had a spare set the right size and found this improved imaging, at the expense, maybe, of atmosphere. I guess I should do a little experimenting, as I've had these Herbie dampers on my preamp tubes right from the start (don't know the difference) and so maybe should remove them and see .... dumb me!

At least 40Hz didn't experiment with rectifier tubes, so you may have different results. As I've said, the rectifier tubes are the most important tubes to dampen, in theory.

I search a ZD if someone want to sell it ?

Has any ZDSE owners ever tried Triode Japan headphone amps and done any comparisons between the two? TIA.

I know Triode Japan is hard to come by overseas but just in the rare chance that maybe some ZDSE owners may have had a chance to listen to some of theirs in line. Naturally for me it's easier for me to pick up one of the Triodes than the ZDSE but my lack of tube amp experience has made it difficult for me to decide to take the easy route with Triodes or aim for the ZDSE. With the price ranges we're talking about, it's going to be difficult to try the "trial & error audio journey to build experience" route.

I've auditioned a few Triode Japan integrated amps with headphone outputs, but I don't think Triode made any dedicated headphone amps like the ZDSE. The integrated amps were okay as a headphone amp, but IMO they were bested by dedicated headphone amps that are cheaper (i.e. Burson). In terms of headphone amp only, I think the ZDSE is much better.

I recommend to all the no residents of the USA not to be afraid of the distance to order with them:   the parcel is great well protected (no risk of break-in(breakage)) and followed is serious then if you have the necessary money (most hard in fact), go! go! go!,

you will not regret it!
