Any Texas Meets Coming Up? - Page 3

2-5pm is certainly reasonable, but I think members coming from other cities (myself included) would like to spend some more time listening. I'm not sure how far Austin is from Dallas and San Antonio, but it looks to be about 160 miles from Houston.

I'm up for this. I've been to SMA before and it's a fine place for the meet, although I don't recall much furniture beyond about 10 seats. But that was a few years ago.

The 7th definitely beats the 14th for me.

SoundMindAudio has also proposed 11am-3pm, which is an hour longer, but an earlier time which may be an issue for those commuting. If need be, we could try to find an "after-meet" venue. Personally, I like the 2-5pm time frame better, which will allow travel time. I do know of another place that might allow us to meet either before or after SMA, namely a board game shop that I frequent (www.greathallgames.com). It should be fairly quite and they have tables and power. I'm not sure if they'd agree to it, as we're not exactly gamers (unless of course there are others who like board games)! And obviously, we would have to visit my favorite watering hole (http://www.draughthouse.com)! Hey here's an idea: devote the time at the store for the home rigs and then hit the pub to listen to the portable rigs?! Just an idea

Publius: SMA will be providing tables, chairs, power, etc. for us. Their newer location is quite nice and is essentially 3 full size living areas of space.

Once we get the time slot nailed down, I'm ready to make a more formal posting.

October 7th might be doable for me. Thaddy, I'd be coming from Houston (Pearland, whatever) so if I can make it, I'll let you know.

Is there confirmation for a meet taking place on the 7th? Also, would a secondary location be available for those who wish to stay later?

I just got word that there is a chance I could have my Storm Digital D02A by the 7th

yes, we're locked in for the 7th. I'm working on a secondary location. Are there any "usual suspects" for this kinda thing? I'm living in an aparment now until our house sells, so I'm not thinking that would really work... Give me a few days and I'll see what I can come up with. I'd definitely appreciate any help from fellow Austin-ites

I just got back in town from a job, and bahamaman made me aware of this meet. I'll be there for sure. I have relatives in Austin i can stay with too, so it's a win win for me. I want to get impressions on my newly modded Zhaolu as well.

Thaddy is your Storm in yet?

Just found this thread and i've got previous plans for the 7th.

If there's any possible way that I can get those plans changed...then you could count my wife and me in. but as of now...it's not looking good.

I'll post back if I can fix this somehow...

Seconded. I can't get in all the listening I'd like to in that time frame, but I'll take what I get. I'd also be more than happy to contribute funds for a secondary meeting place (maybe hotel room) for those who'd like to stay later.

So close and yet so far, I will be in the Dallas Fort Worth area from 10/20 through 10/26. Maybe some other time.

That would be great, you'd have a short comute back to your room after as well .

If someone wants to start a new thread for the Austin meet and a list of attendees and what they're bringing, that would be great.
I'll be bringing my new Zhaolooser101 DAC, Darkvoice 336 w/different tubes to try, Sony XA20ES as a transport, Sony JA20ES audiophile minidisc (yes you read that right!), Tice Audio AC filter, Modded K340's, Modded Goldring DR150's, K81DJ's and 100 or so CD's.
