Good Luck! Here they have a knack for showing up an hour later and loudly enough to cue the person in question to stop.

I can see this turning into an episode of Reno 911!

It's situations like that where IEMs become invaluable.

yeah, im waiting for my im716 to show up next week. the next time they play bagpipes at late night...im gonna go down and figure out exactly which idiots were doing it.

assuming they are outside:
drive by in your shelby cobra with straight pipes.

idle in first untill you are about 2o ft fromt he offending player.
when you are this distance, umm, yea.... expensive tires make expensive smoke. its really not cool unless you get the car into second gear with the tires spinning.

drive off as quietly as possible.

Why not just kill them with kindness and buy them a chanter.

Your headline made me laugh, but I know how you feel. Is it a neighbor or someone on the street?
I wish the guy down the street would trade is race car in for bagpipes.
Although I would probably get tired of that also.

Do I detect a modicum of insensitivity toward our Scottish friends? Moving comes to mind. Sorry, I have no ideas. I grew up in a quiet neighborhood. No guarantees these days.

To play the devils advocate here. What time is a musician suppose to practice? In most municipalities 10pm is when loud noise making should stop. If someone plays Bag Pipes or a Sax they’re not allowed to practice?

After 10pm I’d call the cops, but 9:30 pm I’d grin and bare it. Just like those idiots down the street with the huge subwoofers in their cars. After 10 I’ll call the cops on them before 10 I turn up my stereo or put in IEM or something.

On a different thought your post made me think that maybe you live next to Rufus Harley, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rufus_Harley The worlds only Jazz Bag Piper. I am saddened to report that he passed away this July. The world is a lesser place.

My friend's little sister has been learning to play for a while now. Quite a process, she spent several years with just the pipes and no bags (A truly mindblowingly bad sound I might add, the hum of the bags at least distracts from how bad a tone the pipes have). Also very interesting is that she's doing it all for free, since from what I understand a part of the bagpiper's code is that they teach one person completely for free. Her being the extremely rare female interested in bagpiping she became his prodigy.

Bag pipes...?

Well I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later.
