Question about Sennheiser HD650 cable upgrade and setup questions

Hello all,

I just bought a Go-Vibe5 amp for my Senn 650.
I got a couple questions:

1) Does it negate getting a cable upgrade if i plug the new cable into the 1/4 to 1/8 converter that came with the sennheiser?

2) Does this setup make sense (listed from source to heaphone):

Soundblaster x-fi Fatal1ty front bay 1/4 inch output ->
1/8-1/8 interconnect from belkin ->
GoVibe5 amp ->
Sennhesier 650 with 1/4 to 1/8th adapter (with or without cable upgrade)

Most senn cable makers have a 1/8th option, it would be better to go for that.
