I just placed an ad in the sale/trade forum wanting to buy some new cleaning tubes for my VPI 16.5, but I wanted to post a question here as well... Has anyone experimented with simply replacing the felt on the tubes instead of buying an entire new tube. I checked on Audio Advisor and they are $26+shipping each. This seems outrageous, since all I need to replace is the felt/velvet.
I figured Id post the question here in hopes that someone else that owns this unit (Im sure more than a few head-fiers have a 16.5) has done a 'mod' like this before. I just really don't want to spend ~$60.00 for two pieces of plastic with felt glued to them and I thought that some of the creative minds here could help.
Any help, suggestions would be appreciated
