Problems with Ken Law and Storm Digital - Page 19  

I had prepared a reply to Ken's post and have it saved but seeing as the post has been deleted I won't bother fanning the flames further.

I wanted to let everyone know that a resolution has been met with the help of a third party mediating. This third party has sent me $300 USD and I will keep the damaged DAC, Ken will then send the money to the third party within a specified timeframe and I keep the money I have received in limbo until then. From my perspective while it's not exactly what was originally offered this is fair, part of the original refund figure he quoted included shipping costs to ship the DAC and if I'm keeping the damaged DAC I have something of value, albeit limited value, to sell to help make up a bit of what I've lost.

Lastly, I would just like to say that my intention in posting this thread was not to hurt Ken or his business but to gain resolution, inevitably I knew it would have an effect on his business but how much of an effect was up to Ken, if the situation had been resolved promptly then I think it would have had a minimal effect. That it dragged on so long will probably have much more of a negative effect. In the end though it never should have come to me feeling it necessary to post this thread at all if Ken had simply followed through with his promises in the first place or had been more honest, upfront and kept the lines of communication open I don't think any of this would have happened and I'm truly saddened by what has occured.

As far as potential buyers dealing with Ken are concerned I think this thread speaks for itself, Ken seems capable of providing excellent customer service and can be very accessible but in certain situations it all seems to fall apart, I'm not exactly sure why it did in this case, Ken still isn't speaking to me, but it doesn't seem to be the first this has happened either. In the end I feel somewhat bad that posting this thread has inevitably hurt Ken but I don't regret posting it because it will hopefully serve to help potential buyers make an educated decision.

I should have updated this thread a long time ago but my internet access had been severely limited until recently, so given Ken had apparently disappeared, going through the process of getting the thread unlocked and updating it got put on the backburner. But in light of what appears to be Ken Law and Storm Digital trying to make a comeback I thought I should update this thread now though.

Unfortunately the resolution worked out with the third party fell through, Ken didn't pay the third party by the required date so I refunded the third party the money they had sent me. Shortly after, at a severe loss, I sold the damaged DAC I had for parts. With Ken's disappearance I thought the situation was over and I chalked up my losses as a learning experience. With his recent re-emergence he is still is not speaking to me but has stated through the same third party that he intends to give me the partial refund we had agreed upon by June 27th, once he has generated some funds. Given the past history I have a hard time believing this or his other promises but I would like nothing more than for him to follow through with these recent promises, not so much for myself but for the others who have lost money and faith in the industry because of their experiences.

Well, I got in to work this morning, checked my email first thing and what do I find? Yes, that's right folks a Paypal payment from Ken! Not only that but he tacked on an extra $50 which apparently was for the troubles. I have to admit I didn't really think it would happen so I'm rather amazed and grateful. This bodes well for those others waiting on DAC's and/or refunds, it seems this time at least Ken has been true to his word.
