I was going to order a D02a, but, well to be honest, that Electrocompaniet is looking real good right now....

It sounds like "two months" is a what Ken is promising for D02A, which means it's probably going to be much longer than that.. Dang!
Im scared too. I paid him last week thinking that things were cleared up. And then this thread comes along. I now have no idea what to expect...

I heard similar things on my Benhcmark DAC1 as well.
It turned out an IC (NE5532) was blown, so this might what you are experiencing as well.

I also has a scratchy pot in my DAC1 after a year of use.
It turned out they had solder spilling problem in one batch of pots, otherwise the pot (Alps custom made) should turn smoothly for at least 10 years.
Even though Benchmark is a highly professional and reputable company, and has great build quality and packaging, sh*t still happens.
Fortunately there is a 5 year warranty, and shipping to NY costs under $20.
Their service department is very accessible and professional.
I realized from this point on how important warranty and service is.
Electronics can break--no way around it.
You have to pay more up-front for future service and support, but it ensures the enjoyment of the gear in the long run.
I now recognize that the value of an audio gear includes its sound quality, usability and service support.
Once I factor in the servce/support, a lot cheap gears directly sold from Asia don't seem like such good deals. Once Asian gears are properly distributed in the US the price goes up to 150%-200%. Such is the price for service and support for foreign companies. There is no free lunch.
I want to buy audio equipment and relax and enjoy, and ain't too willing to take risks and worry about mishaps.

ken needs a USA distributor or something.. has one here in aus i think... better beleive i'd rather not deal with ken direct!

Though when it comes to preorders, he'll probably deliver late to the distributors too

I'm glad this has been posted as well. It seems the sensible thing to do is to suggest to people to stop ordering from Ken until he clears up these orders. This will not only put pressure on Ken to finish what he started, but also limits his backlog. Someone mentioned Shellbrook, and I'll admit this did remind me of some of the posts I'd seen about it here as well.

I think Ken is overloaded and over-stretched. You can't be designer, order taker, shipper, packer & ......

I have asked him once and response was fast in the first instance & no more subsequently from him. I have yet to yell at him after reading more and more about him & his product.

IMO, give him a break & let him recover as so far the D02 is cool and a great product!

Regards

See, this is why you shouldn't wait too long before posting feedback! You can always edit your post if/after things are resolved. But waiting too long (after a reasonable amount of time & effort, which you clearly have) only allows others to do business with these bad business people. Then you end up with the "me too!" feedback threads like this.

Classic. I mean, really.

I am sorry to say that you guys are in for a long wait, if ever going to get a resolution. I'd say your money is gone, but I hope I'm wrong for all your sakes. As someone who was one of the worst burned by the infamous Williamgoody, I can totally relate.

Please create a feedback thread so that anyone who has had issues with Ken can post their experiences there for all to see. Elnero, pls put a link to it in your first post in this thread.

I always thought the feedback thread was for transactions conducted on Head-Fi? Unless you're thinking of conducting a transaction on Head-Fi, most people wouldn't think you look at the Feedback forum, so this forum seems the ideal place for discussion of this sort about manufacturers/suppliers, surely?

If it had been in the Feedback forum, I'd never have seen it.

im hoping this thread is a bit of overhype

if it isnt, then people like akwok who extolled his virtues without exception have a bit of explaining to do, i went into this thinking 100% solid idea, simply because up until today and perhaps a couple of days ago, there was absolutely NO negative feedback.

im not sure how close you are to him akwok, but it comes across as though you are very close and his voice on here.

anyway, lets hope for the best, if it turns bad then a lesson learned i guess

Well another day has gone by without a word from Ken, I was initially reluctant to post a feedback thread but after considering some of the posts here and PM's I've received I decided to post one that also links to this more detailed thread.

I understand what you're saying but I think people need to feel comfortable with their own timeframe for when to post such things. Maybe I'm ever the optomist but until recently I was trying to give Ken the benefit of the doubt and I didn't want to push things to a point that would unduly hurt a small business man trying to get off the ground but there does come a time when the timeframe involved and the excuses cross into the realm of the ridiculous. For me that time is now but again being ever the optomist I'm hoping the situation does resolve itself.

Whatever you decide to do I fully understand, if you want a refund just let me know and I'll get it back to you as soon as I can.

Dude, your acting like Ken is ripping us all off. Why would he do that? I am aware there will be a wait, I was quoted 1-2 months but why on earth would you just assume "our money is gone"?

As some people have stated, he is heavily overloaded, he is basicly a 1 man company.

I know of another single builder that anounces products and has taken over 12 months to deliver it. So 1-2 months is not that much of an issue when you consider their pressures when the hype of these forums gets going. The problems that have been noted are almost surely associated with the demand and his ability to support that demand and the continuing support required for follow-on sales.

It would be good to back off a month and give Ken some time.

After a month lets revisit this issue....and see if and how Ken works this out.

Even the UN supports ceased fires sometimes. At least that is what they call them!
