Custom headphone stand: which material?

I've made some wood stands to use with Sennheiser holders a while back.
Here are some pictures:

While I love the looks of my current wood stand, I'm in the mood for trying new materials, using CNC machining.
But I'm clueless about which material I should try...
Any opinions?

Nice work you've done there!

I've seen some great stuff make with Lexan and other plastic/acrylic materials.

However, I'd try metal. How about some nice aluminum? Easy to machine and you can have it anodized afterwards. Stainless is always a good option, as well. You could polish it or maybe sandblast it for an interesting finish. And what about copper? Also easy to machine and you'd have some interesting options for a finish: polish, chemically patinate, let patinate naturally, and so on.

Hmmm... Yeah, anodized aluminium seems to be a nice option!
There are a lot of colors to choose from though... Black?
What about the finish? Brushed? Mirror polished?
