Help me the decide: ER-4P or Audio-Technica ATH-EM7?!?!

You know, I spend too much money on headphone stuff. Just bought an W2002 and I just order a Headmaster. Now, after I read review of Audio-Technica ATH-EM7, I plan to get an earphone. (I hope my mom does not check my Visa bill). I know, it is hard to compare ER-4p and Audio-Technica ATH-EM7. Since the price different is large ($250 vs $80), and I am sure ER-4P will sound much better then Audio-Technica ATH-EM7. However, I want to know how much better?? If you are in my situation, which earphone you will get??
I am not a earphone/headphone collector, I only need one earphone for my daily use. Which one you will prefer?

HI: HAPPY VETS DAY: Well how rich are you? And do you like to put things deep into your ears? I think that the er-4p sounds great. I also think that the EM7 sounds great with out the above hassle. No seal and no put deep in ear thing but I have to give the er-4p a great sound award.

I am not very rich, but I am willing to invest $250 on ER-4P if it worth it. But I am worry about I will feel uncomforable if something put deep into my ears. I had Stax earphone/w amp before, but I felt uncomforable after I use it over 30mins, then I sold it. I am not THAT rich to buy ER-4P, then resell it if I feel uncomforable. Can someone give me a score to compare the following factor?

If ER-4p sounds 10/10, then ATH-EM7 is ?/10 ??
If ATH-EM7 comforable lvl is 10/10, then ATH-EM7 is ?/10 ??

I don't want to buy both, since I only have one pair of ears, so I don't need 2 pair of earphones.

Uncledan, I believe I have the Stax system you refer to, the SRM-001 MKII. I also have the ER4P. All I can tell you is that if you found the Stax to be uncomfortable, then the Etys are probably not for you. They go much deeper into the ear canal than the Stax. Hope this helps you to make a decision.

I'm with joelongwood on that. Although IMO nothing touches the Ety's as far as sound in a portable environment. Probably the best option would be to buy them from Headroom and give yourself about 2 weeks with them. If you don't like them you can return them, as they have a 30 day return policy.

You'll need the two weeks because they do take time to get used to.

i've had the em7 for a day now, and there is clearly a difference in quality between the 4p and the em7. if you're after the highest fidelity you can afford, in a portable size, the etys are it. the etys are a bargain at $300, and $300 is a heck of a lot of dough for me. mmm...cookie dough...

I might be the only one here but i tought the Etymotics sounded kinda boring. I love airyness in phones this had none, and they hurt my ears so i basically hated them but i am trading them for some Grado RS-1s so im happy.
