Light Switch Affects Speakers

The light switch in my bathroom triggers a sound in my speakers whenever I use it. Why does this happen? Also, will it damage my equipment if I don't fix it? Thanks!

Regular tungsten bulb or flourescent? Does it also turn on a fan?

russdog is right. It's probably not the switch, but whatever the switch is controlling. And no, it won't hurt anything. You're picking up a pop of RF in your system.

One of the switches does turn on a fan but I'm not sure whether this switch causes the pop. Also, I'm unsure what type of bulb my bathroom uses but the light is white. Thanks!

It's probably the fan. Electric motors throw off a lot of noise.

What does rf stand for?

My house does the same thing. Sometimes when you turn off a light or something else connected to the circuit that my subwoofer is one, I get a little pop. It's been doing that for years and I've never noticed any ill effects. Sometimes it makes the pop and sometimes it does not.

Methinks RF is 'Radio Frequency'...I could be wrong though

You could be wrong ... but you're not.
