Want to order 'Bling Bling,' but so afraid of it snapping...

I was just about to pull the trigger on a Bling Bling finally, when I read the site's FAQ about how if easily mistreaten, the silver can snap...

Now I'm paranoid

Can anybody assure me for the better for this dock that I heard so many good things about? I love its color and everything, but at the same time I'm so scared to break it...

Why not just get something like a Turbo Dock III and then get a good mini to mini?

Because I find it annoying that the maker doesn't have a website, the whole 'one thing, that's it' idea with the ALO is darn good, and they have sexy style with their cables to boot.

lol

But really now, if any real user of this cable can chime in, it'd be great.

Y'know what guys; screw it.

This is worth it, and if it breaks, it'll teach myself a hard lesson not to abuse my beautiful audio products.

Hey Guys,

We have only had 2 cables come back with a snapped wire, and we have sold hundereds of them. One of the the owners admitted to putting it in his pocket bent, repeatedly. I did an autopsy on this cable (may it rest in peace) and it looked as if it had been bent at 180 degrees in about 30 different places. The other one had the Teflon snapped clean in half so that was odd because Teflon is pretty tough stuff. The bottom line is that they are indeed Solid core wires and any sold silver wire can break if abused. I feel obligated to explain the truths to all on my FAQ page but it is not meant to scare anyone away. If you dont bend it at a sharp angle over and over again it will last you a long time. I opted not to have this covered in extruded rubber because that would be boring and produce a larger fatter cable. I think you will get your $45 worth out of this cable if you treat the cable with some care.

Thanks!

Ken

Just got Cletus' new Jena Cryo cable to ling between my Ipod and Portaphile amp. Was worried about the same thing, breakage from interchanging between several amps. Was assured it's a lot tougher than it looked on the website.

Sure enough, these little cables really look tought, esp. how they're "interstranded" together. Quite flexible and seems to be quite sturdy.

Buy it and enjoy it

I had about 4 inches of the Jena wire that I braided and heat shrunk the 2 ends leaving about a 1/2 inch un heat shrunk in the middle and sat through a movie bending it back and fourth to get it to break. No dice, no breakage and it did not even look phased. Cant do that with a solid silver wire.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the Cryo if the silver may prove to be a bit on the fragile side.

Sadly, I have never seen a review of it. What does it offer in terms of sound quality over the silk and cotton docks? On Ken's site, he simply said (no offense, Ken) that it could easily go 'toe-to-toe' with the other two docks, but iirc, never went into fine detail about its strong points.

I would be really grateful if somebody were to post a personal review of the Cryo cable.

Thanks everybody for your help and input!

I ordered the cryo, just because for my portable setup, motion and changes, and bending will be a given. If I had a sedentary setup, I might consider the cotton/silk with silver. For the "on the go" though, I feel the stranded copper will be a better fit.

Hi,

I do own the Bling Bling dock in silver and it is flexible enough and can take some abuse. I don't think you can beat it for $45. It is quite compact and works well with my ipod and portaphile amp.

Unless you really abuse it, i'm sure it will work great for years to come.

I've had a Cyro Dock for close to a month. I can say that it's a very transparent and neutral cable. It seems to combine all the highs of a good silver and the lows of a good copper with correct and detailed mids. Everything just comes through balanced and effortlessy. Lots of detail. No veil. Just like the Cotton and Silk docks. I think, in this sense, it does go toe to toe with them. The Cotton and Silk do have a slighly wider sounstage, but only very slightly. I think this is due, in part, to the cotton and silk insulators, as well as the geometry. All three sound awesome. You get a really big sound out of them. The Cyro seems indestructible to me, really. I'm not trying to break it, but I'm so not careful with it. Great cable for the gym. I think it's going to be around a long time. Congrats, Ken.

I have the Silk doc and I have no problems.
ALO is good, quality s***.
I was listening to Slowride the other night (by Foghat) and heard details in the background I haven't heard before. If you break one of Ken's lod's, you are either unlucky or very rough with your equipment.

Take care, Ed.
