AKG K812, reporting!

Best conventional dynamics I have heard to date.

Has anyone heard this tube DAC/AMP combo yet ? I am thinking about upgrading from my Racoon SG300 in a month or two.

I bet you would get better answers in the amplifier section on this forum :)

K240 and K612 previously owned K172HD's. I'm eyeing up a pair of K240 sextetts and K340's but I have to save money to move. Commence operation fanboy status!

Another AKG fanboy reporting in!

In order of preference:

K240DF LP

2x K240 Sextett MP

K241

K270 Studio

K270 Playback

K280 Parabolic

K141 600 ohms

Q701

I've been thinking about picking up some early production DFs and trying out some k240 Monitors to see how they sound. The LP DF's have incredible detail and a wonderful soundstage, percussion instruments and pianos sound very lifelike.

^I've been looking for a Playback for years. How do they sound?

I have a K270 question too. Does the Studio and Playback version have a different sound and in what way?

I've only heard the K270 Playback version.

Hi Ishcabible and Tiemen.  The K270 Playback has the same soundstage and extension that the Studio does.  The Playback is a lot more aggressive sounding then the Studio. It's forward in the same way that the K240 Sextett is compared to the k240 DF.  That said, the Studio is more laid-back and less fatiguing. I generally prefer the Studio for female vocals. The Playbacks are definitely the more "fun" of the two, but they are about equal on clarity and detail retrieval. They both have the AKG house sound and the best soundstage of any closed headphones I've heard so far.  I'm new to the audiophile jargon, so hopefully that made sense.

Thanks BlueRequiem, and welcome to Head-Fi!

You're welcome, and thanks for the warm welcome! I see from your signature that you have a Philips N6330, how different do they sound from a normal MP Sextett?

Thanks! They seem pretty interesting. I'll keep looking for a pair.
