That Almarro reminds me of a 6V6 SE amp I once had. I converted to to triode mode and had the sweetest sound.
The Almarro looks like a quality amp, with those big trannies. I'd try a GE 5751 tube instead of the 12AX7 and a better C1. I'd also try removing the bypass cap on the gain stage. Sometimes there is just enough gain this way and you will have less global negative feedback (in pentode mode).
