Meh. You're still using liquid coolant? That's soooo passe. I've moved on to charged plasma phase change array.

If the terms portable and best are being employed, the LaRocco Pocket Reference II (PRII) has to be involved! To this base portable amp I add the Sony D-EJ2000 PCDP, which is tethered to the PRII by a one-foot Headphile BlackSilver mini to RCA IC. I use the AKG K81DJ or the Senn HD-25-1 (modified by a Headphile BlackSilver cable) to hear the audio output. I plan to add the LaRocco Reference DAC (RDAC) when it becomes available. I truck my CDs around with a Slappa CD32 wallet.

The PRII was ok, but didn't really floor me. Then again, most portable amps don't.

PORT. SOURCES

My minor port. source is a NANO (ALL LOSSLESS) to TURBO DOCK to CARDAS 6" mini interconect to a HORNET all in a small camera case with belt clip. For phones I use ETY E4Ps or SHURE E4Cs. What I call my major setup is a 4th gen. photo with REDWINE mod. (ALL LOSSLESS) to a RNB interconect cable to a LAROCCO PRII. Phones are not all that port., but I use my GRADO RS1s.(AT LEAST THEY SEEM MORE PORT. THAN MY GS1000s) I velcroded my IPOD to my PRII and modifided a MOTOROLA belt clip and glued it to the back of the PRII. It works real well and is very compact. That one sounds GREAT. THANKS CHARLIE1

hmm.....maybe
player: iMod Photo G4 (no doubt)
interconnect: hard choice...depends on your headphone and your taste (maybe Cable Pro, ALO, RnB, nordost, anything that goes above 100 or 150$ should be suffice)
portable headphone amp: Lisa III (I'm using only DIY atm since it sounds as expensive commercial products for some reasons but I may give some thoughts to Lisa III soon since founder of this amp will give me an audition by himself)
Headphone: ER-4S/B (Seriously, this is the world's best portable headphone that gives best benefit with amp)

Hmmm.....my ultimate rig is going to be done soon.

5.5G 80GB iMod ipod with ALO Supper Cotton, Cryo X Silver or Gold x Silver Cable. Universal IEMs like Shure SE530 or TF10Pro and RSA AMPs like Hornet or XIN Reference .

^ close to my fav... 5.5g 160g iMod (taken from the iPod Classic) , 4-wire Jumbo Cryo iPod LOD, Portable vCap Dock, Test 6 Wire Salty Pepper RCA cables, LISA III amp, and the UE 11 Pro. That should settle it pretty well I think unless you need more sound stage. The best portable rig I know of for only $3200 after shipping :O (ok, well maybe I didn't include audiologist fees and 9v battery costs). :P

omg an imod is the cherry on the cake, i hav no idea how you guys afford all this stuff, if my parents even found out i had $100 earphones they'd go nuts!

well. first, my father is an audiophile. and second, he probly only thinks i have spent maybe a few hundred on my headphone rig. he has no idea its close to two grand.

btw: u can update ur sig, UE11's are received, not still on their way .

i asked them if theyd buy me some e500 or e5cs or um2s, and they were like omg no, then asked why i dont use the apple earphones anymore lol!
