Both Wmcmanus and guss2 compared Stax headphones and HE90s, when connected back and forth to my McAlister, and to Wmcmanus' Egmont, and they should therefore be asked for their impressions. As for my comparisons of these two amps, using HE90s, I concluded that both amps sounded essentially identical, although not quite up to HEV90 standards.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was wondering.

As well as the EA-1, there is the EA-4 which has seperate biasing for Stax and Senn. There will also be a newer design that Peter is confident will compete [and possibly trump] anything currently on the market.

[EDIT: woah, 7500 posts... looks like I'm a 'quinta-supremus'. ]

It's been a while since Peter mentioned this, and I'm beginning to wonder.

I am so hoping to verify this - real soon... like Mike, still waiting... but I'm optimistic...

I thought you were getting one?

Yeah, that's what I heard...

Last time that I bugged Peter about this I felt his message to be "don't call us, I'll call you." So, we'll see whose phantom amp. appears first; i.e., Peter's or Justin's Aristaeus. I'm also thinking about Dr. Wu's electrostat amp. At least Dr. Wu's amp. is real, rather than a mirage.

Yes, Peter has gone dark this week, but keeps promising 'by next week' when he does respond. If this is to tweak the design, I'm all for it... but, allegedly, the work has been substantially completed, so, again, I'll stroll on the sunny side of the street.

He says the same to me too, and that's been going for months. Anyways, god knows what's up with it. But mine isn't a new design. So i think the delay is probably due to him having too many other things to do than about tweaking the machine.

How many of us are having an amp built by him at the same time right now?

Just talked with Peter - says my amp is ready except for the front panel because he still hasn't gotten the HE60 jack from Mikhail (who has verified shipment)... stinking mail...

So, we'll see... very soon. But, still no word on what exactly it will be called...

BTW, he called me - so this wasn't him getting rid of me from bugging him.

Don't know how it'll be called? What, you got the NEW amp? zomg
Mine is still missing the front panel too, but that was two weeks ago. Maybe the front panel shipment just make it there. He hasn't contacted me yet, hope it'll be soon.

Any updates you guys?

Jack is received, and an email yesterday promised an update tomorrow (Sunday), so I am holding my breath for making a wire transfer on Monday morning... but, this is taking a LOT of patience - as do all new amp designs.

Well, ya'll - payment has been sent, and the McAlister EA-6 should be here in a week. Pics on arrival...
