Some information on Higher Fidelity HF-HA01

According to www.headphone.com.hk (Chinese website), the HA01 is made by a "reputable" Japanese company, and has great synergy with Audio Technica cans.

Issue 298 of AudioTechnique Magazine (Hong Kong magazine) carries a review of HA01, using L3000 as the testing can. The writer said it is amongst the best solid state headphone he has heard so far.

The HA01 used a proprietary "Triacting Circuit" which essentially employs two voltage amplifier circuit to drive the same power amplifier circuit inside the headphone amp.

Looking a the published photos under a magnifying glass, the circuit layout and components application are both very neat and professional, and despite the similarity to the face plate, back plate layout as well as chassis compartment of HA-5000, the internal layout of HA01 is very different. (the location and execution of volume pot, and the heat sink and power supply arrangements are most obvious) Just by looking at the photos, I am convinced it is a different design.

In Hong Kong, the HA01 is priced (listed) at HK$4,225 (around US$540) whereas a HA-5000 will be priced (fixed) at ~ HK$7,500 (around US$ 960). Taking into retail discounts, I would say the HA01 is approximately half the price of a HA5000, and can be pretty good value.

The HA01 has only 1 pair of RCA input, 2x headphone out.

There is no firm report of HA01's origin, some mentioned it was designed by a Hong Kong designer who lived in Japan but no proof have been given out. Another mysterious report is HA01's circuit is quite similar to the FET design of HA2002 and HA5000 (and, some also argue HA2002 and HA5000 is identical in circuit and different outfit).

And again, that Hong Kong Headphone shop reputation is disputed and I personally advise to avoid that shop when you visit Hong Kong. If you need Hong Kong headphone shopping guide, kindly visit Mingo-HMW and we are delighted to share our experiences with you guys

Well since no one else is willing to try it out i just ordered the HA-01 I'll see....
It looks good from in and outside, if it sounds good i really dont care for its origin.
And by the pics above i really doubt it will sound crappy...

The HA-01 seems to be pretty new, i just noticed it on their frontpage, it came out last month if i'm not wrong.

Well, that's the benefit of being an early adopter.
The community does remenber your screen name(s), and you do have something valuable to contribute.

There's a fine line between being a pioneer and being a guinea pig though.

Please post your findings when you get the unit...we are all DYING for a review (hopefully good). I also e-mailed for a quote and need an amp for my ATH-W5000. I was going to order the Singlepower MPX3 but with all the recommended upgrade options the end price skyrocketed

btw...can you tell us the retail price?
