Audio-Technica AT-HA5000 vs. Higher Fidelity HA-01 (photos)

Thread Starter
The Higher Fidelity HA-01 appears to be similar to the AT-HA2002 and AT-HA5000.

A translation of the Hong Kong-based shop's description:

Fan Ying (literally: Buddhist Sound) HA01, designed for Audio-Technica headphones.

This headphone amplifier is made by an established Japanese company.

It has received favorable reviews - build materials are good.

Sound quality is very good - it is the best-matched amplifier for the ATH-W5000.

It was co-developed/designed with Audio-Technica. It can drive any headphone, whether high or low impedance.

Technical specifications seem similar to the AT-HA5000, with more power. Another key difference is it is rated for 110V to 220V.

I found a photo of what appears to be an open HA-01 in Mingo-HMV.com, a Hong Kong-based headphone site, and have posted it here. For comparison are a couple photos of an open AT-HA5000. If anyone has issues with these photos please let me know and I will delete them. (click thumbnails to view)

Nice! Ill probably go for the HA01 sooner or later, i cant afford the HA5000 What kind of volume pot does the HA01 use, i cant make it out from the picture. It better be a really good one, the W5000 will show any channel imbalance very very clearly

This inside of the HA5000 looks to be indentical to the inside of the HA2002. I will try to upload the pics of my HA2002, once I get home.

Come on guys, somebody jump the wagon and buy one of those and post a comparison of the Higher Fidelity HA-01 against the HA-5000 used with the W5000.
We are all waiting

Under the hood it does not look as much like the HA5000 as the spec and description would indicate. The components are different so the design would be somewhat different. This does not mean that the design would not overcome the component differences but it would need to be heard and compared to know what it is like.

Is there any Info on the japanese retail price? I cant find it on rakuten, kakaku and even google.jp/excite.jp
I guess its name is probably not used in alphabet letters in japan.

While (blindly) browsing erji.net, I found that HA-01's price is 3980 RMB (~498USD): http://auction1.taobao.com/auction/0...841c1e3e.jhtml

Maybe could be found cheaper?

Does anyone know where you can buy HA01 and for what price (apart from erji)?

I have a question for those "in the know" concerning equipment specifications?

The AT-HA5000 has a signal to noise ratio spec of 117dB using the JISA standards with its input short circuit and at the time of rated output.

How does this compare with the normal IHF-A specifications that one normally sees used by manufacturers?

I know for myself it sounds dead silent but my ears are not calibrated instruments.

Another interesting link with additional links at the bottom. Just look for model numbers in each link like HA2002 or the Stello DA100 for example. Go to those links and use your google translator for further information.
