Tri-flanges vs. bi-flanges for tips?

See, I'm wondering which would be more comfortable. I had a bad experience getting triflanges in my ear. Would a bi-flange be any better?

This is for my Shure E3c's. Once I find my etymotic earplugs... I'll take the tip off and put them on again. (I seemed to have lost it Now I'll have to get a new set of tips or a brand new pair of ER-20)

Any help would do. Cheers.

Yea, i'm looking for a bit more isolation with my e4c's too. The triflange on my old er6i's weren't too comfortable though.

I think bi-flanges are more comfortable, just because they won't get as far into your ear as tri-flanges. You lose isolation, though. For me, it took about three days for my ears to get used to tri-flanges. Now, I can stick them in my ears and I won't feel them after a few minutes of listening.

depends on how your ear canal is shaped. if triflanges angered your ears, no harm in cutting off the tip flange and trying that

I can't use the tri-flange as it is so I must do the mod. I don't think you'll lose any isolation. If the bi-flange gives a good seal then most likely that third flange isn't doing anything but extending deeper into yor ear and not adding much if any to the seal, which is the problem I have...it simply goes in too deep and causes pain.

...although I much prefer foamies.
