I doubt that shipping to Australia is free. I’ve ordered discs from Europe, but to make it cost effective you have to order a lot of discs. My favorite site is Tower Records, great selection and if you wait for a sale, good prices. The best selection for classical is to be had at http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/main.jsp

Check here http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34545 and contact the sites to find out about shipping.

Thanks guys. Keep the suggestions coming.

Incidentally Yikes, I believe the proper wording of that excellent quote in your sig should be:

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin.

I just checked and yourmusic.com doesn't ship outside US territories.

I'm not really keen on the idea of a mandatory subscription service either.

An Australian telling me about a Benjamin Franklin quote, O-really?

Damn! I wish this were an adult site. I’d make some joke about you and a sheep, sorry I got mixed up. That’s New Zealand isn’t it?

Where in Australia? I spent two months wondering between Melbourne and Sydney.

Damn! I just checked. I've actually been to Ballarat. Well at least I drove thru it. Small world.

www.amazon.com ships internationally, and has prices as low as anybody. Same goes for www.towerrecords.com and www.cduniverse.com. www.arkivmusic.com and www.mdt.co.uk are great sources for classical music in particular.

I think those are all the stores I use.

Looks like I was wrong about that Franklin quote after all.
Great quote though, it really stuck in my mind after I first heard it which was why I brought it up. How relevant to present day times in both your country and mine!

Ballarat is the third largest city in the state of Victoria behind Melbourne and Geelong. Honestly I'm not surprised you passed through here as most tourists seem to, we have an attraction here called Soverign Hill which is a real-life re-creation of the gold rush days (gold-panning and all) that's actually become Australia's most popular tourist destination in recent times.

A small world indeed!

Bump, in case anyone would like to add their thoughts to the thread I'm still looking for a store similarly priced to yourmusic.com that will ship to Australia.

Hi from Melbourne, the first largest city in Victoria :-P.

I have a friend who swears by http://www.cdwow.com.hk for good prices. Maybe check them out?

cheers!

www.djangomusic.com ships new items for free, internationally, if you order $25 or more in new items.

I have ordered from many different sites but I keep going back to www.cduniverse.com. All things considered - cost, shipping, customer service, website, selection - they have been the best. Believe me I buy a lot of music and I don't make recommendations lightly...check it out if you haven't already
