HeadRoom Desktop Portable 5 VDC (battery) input?

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could help me understanding the 5 VDC input rating of the HeadRoom Desktop Portable amp. If 4 D-Cell batteries are used, the voltage should add up to 6 VDC and not 5V.

Thanks!

Straight our of the HeadRoom's site:

For mobile use, the Desktop Portable Amp uses a very high-quality DC-DC converter to take the 4.5 to 6.0 VDC from the external four (4!) D-cell battery pack (known as "The Red Brick") and convert it into the +/-15VDC required by the internal electronics. It also has a rear panel connection for the included +/-15VDC linear regulated wall-wart-type AC power supply.
