Thanks. I hope to have my Micro with DM in about 3 weeks. I've wanted to get a better portable amp then the airhead for a long time. The Micro is a nice price and with the trade-in it was a no brainer. I am pretty close to also pulling the trigger on the Micro DAC.

I don't have a need for the Micro DAC so I didn't get one but it is nice know is available if needed. I do wish that Headroom would make their higher end DAC's available as stand alone units, now that would be something worthwhile.

As I stated earlier, I still haven't received my new Desktop amp but once I do and I've had the chance to give it a good listen, I will post a mini-review to this thread or start a new thread. Keep an eye out for it.

The Desktop amp is here and I love it!!

As the title says - The Desktop amp is here and I love it!!

The new maxed out desktop amp arrived just before I went on vacation so it was waiting for me upon my return and I've been giving it a thorough listen just about every night since coming home.

My headphones are Sennheiser HD650s with Cardas cables and the source is a Sony SACD player through an Audio Refinement integrated amp (line out into headphone amp line in).

The sound is very clean with a very low noise floor (just about zero), the bass warm and not overpowering and the high end is detailed without becoming overly analytical. While listening one can chose to either sit back and become engulfed in the music or play audiophile games and try and find new sounds in old favorite songs since this setup will surely reveal many such treats should one care to listen for them.

I attended the NYC mini-meet on 7/16 and got the chance to briefly hear several different mega-buck headphone/amp combinations and I won't tell that my system is right up there with those killers but I will say that the differences were not all that great and barring a big win fall of money (like a lucky lottery ticket) I'm more than willing to live quite happily for many years to come with my recent purchase.
