I have 2 line filters, a Monster HTS850 and APC Smart UPS 750. Right now I have my source Eastsound CDP on he Monster and Dynahi running off UPS (I think this one says it has perfect sine wave output).

Am I doing the right thing? What's the best combinaion? Both off Monster?

Don't use the APC. They put out a stepped sine wave that will seriously dork up your sound.

What about monster? I'm looking at the monster hts 2600 MK II, because my surge protector doesn't have enough amperage load support atm and it says overloaded as I am exceeding 12 amps (I think I have like 14.)

I got the chance to try out the Monster HTS-5100 MKII Power Center, it'll definitely be the item I'll buy after my source and amp upgrades are over, it sounded stunning, since I was rather skeptic about power conditioning.

Really? You could hear a difference? I'm only interested in the hts-2600 because I need something that can take a little more then 12 amps.

so I guess both on monster uh...I think I have decent/clean utility outlet...so I don't know if I need the super nice filter. I would like to get a AC-DC-AC converter however if $$ is not an issue

Okay, this post is sort of unrelated, but a little related.

I have an HTS5100, which I bought new about 4 or 4.5 years ago. I recently noticed that the "clean power" led was not lighting up. Furthermore, the switched and switched/delayed shutdown sequence was flaked out. Upon power-down the switched+delayed outlets should go down immediately, followed afterward (6 second delay in my configuration) by the switched outlets. When I hit the off button, the switched+delayed outlets would power down, but the switched outlets would not power down at all.

Long story short, although I had the carton, I could not locate the receipt. I called Monster, explained the symptoms, and they gave me an RMA. They said they will ship me a new HTS5100. They said that they do not do repairs on warranty returns, they replace them. I would guess that they repair returns and sell them as factory refurms through other channels?

Anyway, despite the prices they charge, I am feeling pretty good about their warranty coverage, at least. Cost me $11 to ship my unit to California via Fed-Ex ground.
