Announcement: 2007 International Meet to be held in San Jose, California! - Page 4

I'm going to do my best to attend; I love California. But whether I make it or not, I am happy to help out with prep in any way I can from the small island of Manhattan.

I'll be there. San Jose isn't too far off, and it'll be nice to get out of town for a few days. I'll see if I can't get Friday off work and make it a three day event.

If I can help out from LA somehow, even trivial stuff, let me know.

Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned activites and events. I don't know how practical it'd be, but wouldn't it be great to have a DIY workshop? Attendees could do a group buy of parts for an amp, and then build them all at the same time. Bring test gear and have experienced people on hand to troubleshoot. Maybe we could even convince someone like Kevin Gilmore or Pete Millett to show up and lead us through it. How cool would that be?

Three more volunteers! Nice. We will be in touch to figure out ways to take you up on the offer, although Vincent is going to have a much harder time making the meetings!

As for Uncle Erik's DIY-related ideas, Tyll is planning to bring test gear for amps and headphones (I think) and he was hoping to book a room for that purpose. In addition, the Bay Area meets always have a very active DIY group -- including AMB, Morsel, rjkdivin, and others -- who bring test gear and projects aplenty. We also have talked about having DIY discussions, demonstrations, or the like, so keep the good ideas coming!

I think I'll get my wife to go just by asking her to dinner at the French Laundry. Kill two birds with one headphone.

I bet the food is awesome, but I’ll leave hungry because the portion size.
here is how you get a table at the French Laundry

I'm in, barring any business conflicts. As Edwood mentioned, let us know if you need any help from us SoCal-ites.

Three more of my favorite Head-Fiers are in! Also nice. Pat, Gene and Bill, it will be great to see you all in San Jose!

I think some DIY stuff would be great. In addition to the suggestions already mentioned, I think it would be really cool--and admittedly geeky--to have an "amp hospital." I know I needed one at the National Meet (Nate did his best to make a diagnosis). People could bring in their builds that are a step or two away except for that nasty DC offset (for example ) and pick the collective brain about how to fix it.

I will offer whatever help I could to fellow DIYers with their gear. I will bring my "portable lab" with me, consisting of a good array of test equipment and various cables, adapters, dummy load, and other gizmos. I will also be happy to run RMAA testing and spectrum analysis on any amp, DAC or other gear. I just need enough table space to set this all up.

To expedite lookup of info, working wi-fi would be greatly appreciated. I recall the last time we had a meet there I couldn't connect for some reason (don't remember why).

Barring a major scheduling conflict, I'll be there.

Whazzat -- hour-n-a-half as the crow flies? (...certainly can't drive after that...) Ah, Shafer - Spottswoode - Heitz - Coppola - Montelena - Tra Vigne - French Laundry - etc. - life is a cabernet!
if we are going to Napa, we need to srop off at Bear Republic brew pub, Russian River brew pub and Lagunitas brew pub and as long as we are on 101 we can stop off at Anderson Valley brewing, it's only a two hours nrrh of Healdsburg...
Wayne, Mike, Gene, Al but on your drining goggles, Wayne these places are way to clean for you based on the dank bars we went to in NYC we can stop off at Toranado and the Sallon in SF so you are not dissapointed.

Oh and BTW count me in, I may wind up moving out there by the ennd of summer anyway. It's a mid to long shot but it is in play

PS I will be there, NYC was a blast last year, hopefullly there will be some killer live music in the Bay Area that weekend but there is always a good show going on somewhere

omg, this is a dream come true! 14 minutes away from my house (according to mapquest) AND it's International?! It's 5:48 in the morning, and I almost thought I was dreaming when I read this! I'm darn sure I can go...w00t!

What do you guys normally do at a meet, and esp. an international one? This has got to be big...

I am not 100% committed to attend yet, but if I am there, this is the tour I am going on.

I bet you will be at 100% before long--maybe I can come up with a work angle to justify your trip! I'm trying to figure out if we can set this tour up for the thursday or friday beforehand and get a van with driver to make it all safe and legal-like. It would be a blast. Our rag-tag crew wouldn't be fit for French Laundry but the brewery tour is in our sweet-spot.

And Johnny #s, I will be on the lookout for live music options in advance of the show so we can get a group of tix like tyrion did for Bela Fleck. It would be a long way to the Vanguard for the Saturday night music event, but SF is closer and has some good options, as you well know.

atheisticfreedom: glad you found the thread and you should read up on the first annual International Meet in New York in the impressions forum. We should schedule a meet for the Bay Area in the late summer/fall (I vote for September or October personally) so be on the lookout for that as well.
