If he prefers the drums, then get the SR225i (the slightly messier bass of the 225 makes them more fun to my ears). If he prefers guitars, get the SR325is. Both fit within the budget.

With the SR325is, it does come out of the box rather sharp (initially a little jarring), but once you get used to it, you come to appreciate the texture and the cleanliness of the guitar strings.

Or tell him to blow the budget and get an RS1i and call it a day. :gs1000smile:

This thread's slowed.  Apparently Pro-Russian militants also have beats knock offs:

Hahaha.

Today I saw an unknown headphone. It's a Sony but looks very similar to the Ultrasone signature DJ. Except the faceplate was flat and glossy and said Sony. Also, it was blue tooth.

Its not too bad honestly. Both my roommates have Beats, but one of them rarely uses them and only has them because he was given them in some sort of contest for free. They'd never heard of a thing called a "headphone amp" until they saw my Fiio E11.

On that note, I saw a Parrot Zik, an M-100, a pair of Audio-Technicas I didn't recognize, and what looked Sennheiser HD280's from across the library.

I saw a guy with a pair of Beyerdynamic Custom One with a Fiio X3 on the subway.

I asked him about the headphones and we had a short rant, it was the first person with decent headphones that I have seen :P

I saw some model of Audio-technicas solid bass line, and a shure 240 today.

I understand, but I mean if he is a FANBOY, not an owner. A year or so ago, I might've thought that the beats would be a good buy. The average consumer really doesn't know better.

Also, my best sighting so far, saw an adult walking on the street next to my school with PSB M4U's. nice pair of cans.

additionally, it seems smart to me that PSB made their headphones look like modern style beats-ish stuff. good marketing.
