3.5mm jack stress

i recently a got headphone with a 1/4 inch termination. the problem is that my amp has a 1/8 inch jack. instead of purchasing a grado or sennheiser adaptor or one that is two pieces like this one
http://www.headphone.com/products/ca...ug-adapter.php

i got a cheapo ratshack one, much like this one
http://www.headphone.com/products/ca...ni-adapter.php

here is a picture of the set up

anyways, my concern is that the jack on the amp is getting too much stress. is there so much stress that i could damage my beloved pa2v2?

although its not pretty, i'm using some rubber bands on the termination like this

not pretty, but who do i have to impress?

IMO I think that is to much stress especially if your going mobil with it...When I had my PA2V2 just from normal use the jack loosened up, no big deal just tighted the ring back. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with all that weight on that jack, but thankfully Gary is very nice, if something does happen he sould be able to fix it for you with the lifetime warranty he offers.

i don't go mobil with it, it just sits on a desk or a bed

You have two options, or recable/replug the heapdhone, or get a Grado like adapter, that offers a lot less stress...this is indeed a lot of stress for that poor jack...

You can find an all in one 1/4" to 1/8" cable on amazon (only HOSA brand though) for a little less. I got the adaptor and the slightest vibration makes it crackle.

I had Alex at wyvernaudio.com make one for me; it was a prototype using flat copper wire, and it is the "grado style" (see, e.g., http://www.headphone.com/products/ca...ug-adapter.php )

The sheathed cable between the 1/8 and 1/4 connects is super flexible, and the connections are rock solid. It sounds great. I don't have a digital camera with me so I can't give you a picture, but it's pretty
