Best DAC under $2000 - Page 2

Hmm there are a lot of choices in that price range. I dont know what your transport is but I would probably take a 1k DAC and mod the heck out of it.

Oh and btw pricing for the D01 is not fixed yet but at least the introductory price will be under 2k.

You might also consider the Levinson 36 and 36s DAC on the used market.

If you are including used equipement try to find used a Weiss DAC1.They are hard to find because no one ever sells them.

For new units you might also want to look into the

Lavry Blue
Universal Audio 2192
Mytek

Pro units have less cosmetic appeal but they sound as good as the nice looking units for a lot less.

Cheers

How about Lite Audio DAC-192 at $1750?
http://eshop.diyclub.biz/product_inf...roducts_id=372

Haven't seen this kind of build quality in pretty much any DAC's, counting 7 separate transformers inside and a huge separate PS. I have no idea how it sounds, but heck somebody around here has to try it

Or - its little brother the DAC 38... not 7 transoformers but 6 requlated power supplies.

I've been reading great things about Musical Fidelity DAC, so it will get my vote. I believe that the Trivista Dac is same DAC that features on the $6000 Trivista CD/SACD player.

The only two DACs I'm dreaming of now are the LessLoss DAC and the Esoteric D-01 Mono DAC!

However, the D-01 is a pipe dream, so I can cross that out. I've been really, really interested in the LessLoss lately, though - someone should get one to try. It looks amazing, exterior and interior wise.

I looked into the Lessloss and there's no way I'm soldering a cable directly to a $1500 player . I also looked into the DIY 192 but I prefer to buy from a larger manufacturer so I know there will be easy to access parts and labor direct. I'm kind of hesitant about the D01 for the same reasons since yo udon't know how long a small company like that will be in business but I would still be interested in it's pricing and specs, especially if it'll look as good or better than the D02.
