How to connect HD-580s to an amp?

I read this in another thread-

For what it's worth, I drive my pair of K1000s with a Pass Labs Aleph 3 power amp. I have the spade connectors hooked directly up to the speaker lugs. I use my GS-1 as a pre-amp. I am using the stock cable that came with the headphones.

Would someone take a moment to inform me as to how this is done?
I have several low watt amps I might like to try... Is there a special 'phone cable adapter to plug the single 1/4 inch plug into which converts it to twin spades?
Or is this a specific aftermarket cable?

I have HD-580s...

Just about the easiest, and safest way.

There are cables you can make, using resistors, that can accomplish just about the same thing, but at your own risk.
