Im having a chem test in 6 hours time.... I havent slept from 7 pm and its already 6am... Right now, im listening to diana krall flacs using a fujitsu laptop and ety er4p with foobar

I just wanna say that FUJITSU - ETY ER4P - FOOBAR ROXXXXXXXXXXX!!!

ok thanks, i got it out of my system already, back to study......

DO you guys think a amp for this set up is gonna be better?

It's been well documented that a good night's sleep before an exam is more beneficial than staying up all night cramming (deep sleep is the time when your memories are saved away). Good luck though.

Depends. If you know nothing and haven't studied at all then it's better to stay up all night and at least try to get something memorized. Of course that's a poor way to study - do nothing all semester and then study the night before the test. Prefferably one should study as he covers material so that on the day before the exam all he has to do is revisit his book/notes, that's the best way. Unfortunately I don't always do that so I have also found myself studying the day before quite often.

I've found my Ety 6i improves with an amp - the bass is more weighty.

sss.... ochem... have fun with that. i took my last ochem final a month ago. fun times: no sleep and major stress. i feel you on that konig. anyways... i only own an er-6i and a cute beyond amp, but i'll start comparing the sounds straight from my cd player and through the amp. i don't know how the er-4p will react to an amp tho... plus different amps produce different sounds from what i've been reading on these forums. will report back with my thoughts in a little bit...

edit:
so... there certainly is a bit more bass and it's a lot deeper when using the er6is with my amp. the recording was a little less congested than straight from my player, but the difference wasn't phenomenal. fyi, i was listening to Wang Leehom's Heroes of the Earth cd (not a bootleg, hehe). if you're looking for a significant improvement in sound, i'd suggest getting an external DAC (USB?) with an amp (within which the combinations are endless). prepare to do some reading =)
