I know that this could be kind of a silly question, cause one could answer "everything!" - but realisticaly, what headphones do you still want to try out, and why?
I'd really like to have a pair of HD650s. If I could get a reasonably good trade for my HD580s + cash for a pair of HD650s, I'd probably jump on it. I'm a bit curious about the HD650s, even though they're considered to be a lot darker than the HD600s, they've still got my interest piqued.
I think I'd like to try out a pair of SR325s or RS-2s or RS-1s. I've heard these before, but it was in bay bloor radio, so I really wonder if they were plugged into an amplifier that lacked sufficient current to really drive them -c ause in my experience they sounded really flabby and loose, but people who love them generally don't talk about them sounding that way. I'm not sure I want to own these - just curious about their sound. But maybe after I listen, I will.
A pair of IEMs. Here, I think I'm currently leaning towards the ER4Ps or the Shure E4s. I think these will be really good for flying and traveling - and if/when I have to movce from my private ofice to a shared office in a few months. I don't know that people will appreciate my HD580s or K701s at that point. Oops!
AT 900s. These have always had a bit of a visual appeal to me - and people tend to rave about these being really good closed headphones in the low end of high end headphones. For one thing, I just think these look really, really cool. I alos think that these could become my headphones of choice if I end up in a group office. I don't have them yet, but I may have to buy these or some IEMs by September.
That's it for me. I've heard the Beyerdynamics, and I like them - but my K701s are close enough to the sound signature to the Beyers for my liking. I sort of feel the same way about the HD580s too actually, which is why my HD580s don't get a lot of use anymore. The K701s generally do most things better than the 580s, but the 650s are supposed to be pretty nice bass machines.
And then there are the various DIY projects I want to finish.
