EDIT: Will gladly trade either of these + $$ for a TBAAM or other USB / PCMCIA sound card I can use with a laptop. Please send all offers.
I tried out both of these soundcards for cheap digital outs on my PC. I don't have an external DAC anymore so these are just sitting in static bags. They sound identical using S/PDIF out (although I never bothered to get bit-perfect transfer - I like my DSPs). Prices do not include shipping which may be a bit expensive to the US. Located in Toronto.
1) Chaintech AV-710 - pending
Used approx 3 hours but prefered the simplicity of running ASIO on the Live! card. Works well with kernal streaming. Retail box with all accesssories (manual, CD, toslink cable).
2) Soundblaster Live! 24-bit - $20 CDN ($18 USD)
This was my primary output since I could get it to run ASIO via ASIO4ALL. OEM card comes with CD and custom 75ohm digital cable (only has a 3.5mm S/PDIF output jack - the cable is a 75ohm digital RCA cable (2m) with RCA-mini adapter).
Will post pics later on.
