Brand new AT cans!

Thread Starter
I went to the Japanese AT site and I see that there are 3 new AT cans available (added 10/21/2002). They make use of DADS (Dual Air Dampening System) which was developed for the W2002 cans (a pair of which I quite happily own )...
I checked http://www.audiocubes.com/ and they ALREADY have them, and at prices that appear to be quite reasonable: $99-$199!!!
Japanese site:
http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/prod.../ath-a500.html
http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/prod.../ath-a700.html
http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/prod.../ath-a900.html

I hope somebody reviews them soon!
I'll stick with my W2002s for now, though

Warning!

Don't rush into them now. Some Rumor heard here that A1000 & W1000 are coming within this year.... Of course they are successor of A100 & W100. Better to wait for them.

I have a pair on the way already. I'll let you know if they're any good. I do fantastic reviews when I'm being paid to do them but it looks like too much work for here so you'll have to be happy with "they're good" or "they're s&&t"

Hi,
I know that frequency response is nothing important, but man the A900 has 5 to 40 Khz!!!
I can assure you it isn't flat from 5 to 40kHz...it probably stars producing some noise at 5kHz and stop sproducing noise after 40kHz, but a more realistic frequency response is probably something like 45Hz to 20kHz.

ahhhhhhhhh my wallet is taunting me. Im going to get some new headphones within the next week and i thought i had it narrowed down to either the grado 325s or some ety ER-4(P or S). I do like the grado sound alot and dislike the senn sound for the most par but ive never heard AT can someone give me an idea of the type of sound?
thanks

A few pairs of the 900's and the 700's. All sold already, sorry
I'll be keeping one of the 900's. I see the ATH-EM7 has been discussed here too, they'll be turning up in a separate shipment. I'm an Audio Technica junkie, although I decided to give the W2002 a miss. Their 'limited editions' aren't that limited, certainly as far as resale goes... And I knew the A900 would be round the corner

My hand was also reaching towards the credit card after surfing Audiocubes, but I've decided to give the headphone acquisition a rest for a while. Etys yes, but everything else, maybe next year.

Depending on how you rate and measure frequency response, AT could probably claim 1Hz-200KHz on those same phones (oh but with 20db roll-off at the extremes).

Open AT Headphones

3 new closed A-T H/Ps with 1 to 2 more coming, but no mention of any open H/Ps in the near future
